Learning Update

The Number Properties and Operations mathematics content strand is our current focus. In class, students are learning (or reviewing):

• The Real Number System (Ask your your child to sketch the Venn Diagram for this system.)
• Number Forms (The manner in which a number is presented, e.g. fraction or decimal, etc.)
• Even/Odd, Prime/Composite, Factorizations, LCM/GCF
• Modeling, Ordering, and Operating on fractions, decimals, and percents

Students should devote a minimum of 10 minutes per night, Monday-Thursday, to math. Primarily, students are asked to work on Accelerated Math assignments. Students who do not have an Accelerated Mathematics assignment can work on quick recall of basic math facts. Other options are the web-based programs available through my blog (PrimeTime Investigation 1) and the school website (Study Island and Math Whizz(6th-grade only)).
